    Chains for sure
If its the water pump you'll get some other noises after a few weeks, and you should also notice the temp will increase abit quicker and will run hotter than usual, wether your driving though fog at 4am in the morning or in the arvo.
Buy a complete kit as well, don't just change the chains, cause then the guides will go next.

lol its not an easy job, youd need a fair bit of skill, and its basically an engine out job, if not a very tight job

camden gti quoted me 3K :\

alot of other mechanics around my area wouldnt do it because it was "too hard" or they didnt have the time

    VR6 timing chain issue?

It's not an overly hard job at all. There's a very thorough DIY on vortex.

It's considered 'hard' cause if you mess up your timing there goes the engine.
