    VR6 ticking noise??

Hey guys i have done some work over the time to this car and it seems to be one problem after another. i have change and swap a few things such as leads, hoses, plugs, relays, lights the list goes on... anyway the engine has always made a ticking noise almost sounding like a diesel and its kind of annoying not knowing what it is. i will link a video of another vr6 that sounds pretty much identical as mine however the noise is not as noticeable when its not idling. if anyone knows what is causing it and how to fix it/ what new parts i would need would be great.

    Cheers.

    Tough one.

    Usually would say lifters.

But i had a similar noise after having timing chains done and it was the tensioner. Oil thinned out with heat and the tensioner would lose pressure and slacken the chains.

yea i have read some other forums saying it could be anything from lifters to the oil guess its just going to be trial and error.

    Cheers

Well. If it happens when cold and hot lifters.

If it happens when hot tensioner

if it gets real loud at 2000-2500rpm and quitens off a little with rpm, hot and cold couldbe chains

When its hot its not as noticeable and when driving the engine sounds fine so will probably start with tensioners

    Cheers.
