14.5l/100km! not even my mk 1 is that bad!
Actually, the mk 1 is very badly tuned (my bad!) so I do around 12's full city cycle, inc, flogging it and regular full throttle applications!
Doesn't get much better on the highway for some reason..

I've been doing lots of really short trips lately, hardly getting the car up to temperature.... my average usage is sitting at.......17.8l/100km
I think my O2 sensor is shot too.
Well, that was back from the auctions, and on ****ty no name (95) fuel also experimenting with the car. I know from personal experience that a B1 passat 1.5, 4 speed and auto choke won't do much better than 11.5-12 on the highway.
Also consider my 2.slow it seems cannot get worse than 10.5 or 11, and I warm that car up every time before I drive it as well.
i get in the 12's... but i only drive for like 10-15 mins at a time. last time i went on a really long trip i swear i had it down to like 6. don't quote me tho.
Last time I went to terrigal and back I got it to 7.1 :Dteehee. But this isn't what is needed in this thread..have you found a figure Hawk? I'm interested to see what VW said back in the 90's about fuel consumption for our VR's
The manual puts it interestingly, offering fuel economy according to the speed your traveling at:
90km/h = 7.3 for the manual and 7.8 for the auto
120km/h = 9.0 for the manual and 9.5 for the auto
City = 12.5 for the manual and 13.8 for the auto
VW also claim that the GL in auto does 11.7 in the city
Wow these figures are all bull****!
13~14l/100kms here!
My VR6 was making about 150kw atf and loved the juice.
On the freeway I'd empty the tank within 300kms @ 170km/h. In town I'd be lucky to get less than 12l/100km and driving like a granny on the highway (120km/h) saw a best of 8.8l/100km.
When I upgraded to a 328i (in 1999) and gave the VR6 to my wife, she gave it back after 2 months complaining that she couldn't afford to keep it fuelled .... :duh: I then made the stupid mistake of selling it ....
Bottom line .... a VR6 driven like it should be .... is heavy on fuel.
