A lot of Mk3 owners have contemplated this but I don't think anyone has ever had it done here. It's expensive, and for the money you could get a 2nd hand in decent condition with cash left over or just go for a Mk3.5 Cabrio one.

mine is knacked and I got a quote to see how much it was to recover in leather. The guy said about $250-$300. He now doesnt really do then anymore because it is such a time consuming and hard job. (by hand)

He had even taken steering wheels home sometimes and done them because it just takes so long, not to mention the needles he used to go thro in one wheel.

This is very similar to the Cabrio wheel (without the woodgrain):

Oli had one of these a few weeks ago and it sold for close to $500.

The wheel is from the Mk3.5 Cabriolet! The one with the Mk4 front. Only they had that wheel that would also fit the Mk3.
