    You drive a Mk3 VR6 ??
maybe admin should move this thread.

have you noticed other symtoms ? black smoke ?? egg smell cat ? fluctuating RPM during idle ??while clutch engaged car stalls which slowing down at traffic light ?

it could be O2 sensor related. coz that the problem I have.

my rpms fluctuate a little but only when its about to stall out. no smoke and no egg smell from exhaust. it happens mostly when im stopped but it has happened while moving, coming to a stop. i was told that it might be the mass air flow sensor. im gonna change that out and see what happens.

I had similar problem to you ... I thought it was MAF as well but I have clearned it with isopropanol spray and nothing happened.

Becasue your revs are fluctuating, you can also try increasing your idle RPM. that helped me alot.

Hmmm..get someone to check all your air systems are okay. I know it sounds crazy, but check the idle vacuum. when my idle vacuum (PCV Damper) broke, there was no vacuum for a steady idle so the car fluctuated like a MOFO then died. I had to re-create the vacuum with a garden hose (lol..temporarily of course) to get it going.

    Yeah could be vacuum.

Could be a good idea to get it scanned for error codes - it could even be something sensor related - eg: bad coolant temp sensor would cause uneven idle.

A few guys on here have scanners, depending on where you are, or your local VW service will scan it for you.
