Funny mine slot the other way I think the stock ones are OK and its not needed unless your going to race it really but Brembos like Alex K11LZ's ones are the go.
I think its time to get new rotors on the Dog.
Has anyone put slotted & drilled rotors on their VR6? What brand did you use and what are they worth? I've seen some in UK mags called black diamond with a black finish, they look fantastic.
Pre '96 had smaller brakes too on the front... 280mm I think which is what I need.
existing front brakes...
Cheers
Lex.

I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...
Brembo & AP Racing both make kits for the VR6.
I have no idea of cost for either but you can lay a solid bet it will be A LOT.
I plan on upgrading my brakes since I think the VR6 needs more stopping power for anything more then lesuirely pottering round.

That black coating lasts until you get to the end of the street. I have had BD disks in the past and they lasted really well, that was on a MK1 with an upgrade in size to 270mm so not really worked hard on the road. They did take a beating at the track though.

If ur gonna go drilled and slotted, they eat away at ur brake pads faster than normal. Like mk3vr6 said unless u do track days or sumthing, the stock slotted ones should do fine
Im confused about the VR6 brakes. The early ones definatly had the 280mm, and late ones definatly had 288mm, but im told i should have 280mm from my build date, but the VIN says i have a series 2 and there for i have the 288's
Im confused.
Ive looked at a few US parts sites and you can buy a 288mm brembo drilled disk that looks fantastic, with the proper recesed holes of the brembo.
When I remember to, im just going to get a tape measure and see how big mine are. None of this VIN# confusery!

280mm disks are 22mm thick and the 288s are 28mm IIRC. The calipers are a fair bit bigger too.
Gavin
288s are 25mm thick
You're right Tim 25, 28 didn't ring a bell now I know why.
