Red face VR6 saved with a womens touch

Whats the worst dodge fixes have you found on you're cars?

With the joy of living in australia and in its intense heat my poor vr6 suffered
Two long days of flushing, cleaning, taping etc i fixed my baby!! I knew from the day i bought it, it had the cruddy green coolant, lose wiring, dodgy fixes etc so i got my grease monkey on.

Flushed the coolant 20 billion times, nice chunky green goop came out a few times (ew) New vw red filled.
Old tape wrapped in my thermo fans removed (wtf was with that, i dont know ).
Air box was UNfolded (yes the deros munted it) new filter and the nice clump of mud and sand removed.
All lose wiring re-taped and fixed plus blue tacked fuses fixed.
New hose clamps all round (took me almost a hour to remove one which had fused itself together)
Engine bay degreased, air blowed and cleaned - still not finished though.

After all that she now drives like a dream thermos kick in when they are meant to, no near over heating and HELLO ice cold aircon which randomly started working again after the quick fixes, plus now she climbs through the revs so smoothly and launches have become drop dead gorgeous. Finally have the power of a vr6 at my right foot.

Grr its annoying knowing this was all done so now i'm organising to have it hooked up to the VW diagnostics computer at work for a list of alarms etc and putting it on the hoist to recheck the underbody just incase!

All i need to do now is book it in to have the belts replaced and air con re gasses FINALLY!!
Sorry for the lack of photos was little to peeved to take any with what was found but will do a photoshoot soon when this weather clears up

Always good to do a quick service on the A/C system, if it has unknown/dodgy history.

^^ This. Just put in a new compressor and gassed it up thinking itd be all good. Intermittent cooling and not very reliable cold air = $160 worth of Receiver Drier and Tx valve ANNDDDD another F***ing regas. Up to 500 on aircon alone.

Good work on fixing another VR, need to see some pictures.

Went with the aircon delete myself, didn't see the point in fixing something I use maybe once a year so it's gone. Finding the right serpentine belt locally has been a challenge though. Had to do water pump and various coolant pipes at the same time so thought why not
