    vr6 running temp

    Hi all,

After having read a few old posts regarding the temp a VR6 should run on, would be safe to say it's the temps sender that needs replacing.

Having said that has anyone changed this to find it solve the problem ? mine is runing around the 70ish mark. Thermo's seem to activate when it creeps over and past the 80ish mark though so all else seems to be fine.

I had the same problem with my car, the water would only get up to 70max on a hot day with the car struggling to get up to temperature. After replacing the thermostat the normal water temperature is around 90C and oil is around 88-92C on a normal day and is up to temperature within 5 minutes.

According to the books the standard is an 80° thermostat. If the thermostat is stuck open, in winter the temperature should be stuck on the bottom so i think ud be fine.

My oil temps are bang on where they should be, my fans seem to come on when they should but the gage rarely ever makes much over 70 or so. In my case I'm reasonably confident it's a something in the gage (since it was fine before I changed the cluster). At the time I swapped the two clusters back and forth and one was reading 90, the other was more like 70...

I'm wondering if different clusters work with different ECU's slightly differently meaning it's never going to read right or if there is actually something wrong with it.
