Does slotting and drilling really make any difference? Other than reducing surface area that is

I did have issues with EBC GreenStuff pads! i dont think they like stock rotors much and in my case caused frequent warping. brake dust is a pain, i do agree. but at least you know your pads are working with the rotors

It reduces brake fade due to gases that build up between the pad and disc when the going gets tough.

wouldn't it also slightly reduce rotating/unsprung mass?

i bought some cross drilled rotors and mintex pads from overseas but in hindsight i'd probably pay the extra few quid to have them straight away from local suppliers/distributors. however, the is a muuuuuch larger variety outside of australia.

Can someone shed some light on DBA Rotors for me? I am looking at getting a price shortly but have no idea what to ask for as their website is confusing me a little.

DBA lists the following four models under MK3 VR6:

    MK3 GTi VR6 (Early) (4/94 - 7/95)
    MK3 GTi VR6 (Late) (8/95 - 98 )
    MK3 VR6 (From SW 400 001) (94 - 97)
    MK3 VR6 (Up to SW 400 000) (94 - 97)

All I know is my car is a 1994 VR6, and what the heck is SW 400 000???

I never figured it out when I was looking at new rotors. Instead look at the diameter of the rotor, if you have a 94 vr6 you should be running 280mm fronts. So order the 280mm DBA versions.

It's very easy to tell 280mm calipers stick out HEAPS far, and they have a curvy bar across the inner edge (closest to the centre of the hub). The new 288mm brakes have a very straight looking caliper with no weird sticky-outy bits.

How much are slotted rotors compared to stock?

Same with greenstuff pads next to stock for price?
