    Le Black VR6 (and parts)

    Hi guys,

The car I'm looking at might need to have to have the following things replaced. Can anyone give me an idea on what would be the best replacement part and where to get it?

    1) Brake Rotors - Should I be going OEM or is there a good option for an upgrade?

    2) Engine Mounts - What's involved in the job? Where should I get them?

    3) Rear windscreen brake light bulb - Ebay?

    4) Back windscreen wiper water jet cover - Ebay?

    Thanks guys,
    Max

The new monster. About as original as i've ever seen. Only mod is spray painted calipers (R32 Blue)

Local parts supplier would be the best for most if not all of these items, You guys would have many european parts specialists up there
e.g Imparts or similar.. Easy way to go and can check part number, and are generally pretty competitive price wise.
Also some of the fellas on here are involved. Think Jmac may be one to talk to up there.
For aftermarket engine mounts would look on dubaddiction, Tim is great to deal with

    I'd personally go...

    1. Imparts (under the gateway but call ahead), or ecstunning.com (they sent me the wrong ones last time, still cheapish... don't shy away from pricing up at local brake shop.
    2. Tim @ dubaddiction. BFI stage 0.5 are nice. JMac is the man if you can score a booking.
    3. Supercheap
    4. KMJ maybe (found they can be pretty rude at times, and I'm no prude, but that part should be easy and cheap and probably in stock... and they're not that bad) Call around wreckers...

As above try local first, not just protectionist, but easier to return/communicate etc.

Would you try upgraded rotors like drilled or slotted options or just stick with a direct replacement? Just wondering if I should be upgrading considering they'll be off anyway.

Upgrades are only really worth it if there is a need for it. Do you need better braking power? Are you smashing your brakes on spirited hill runs and getting bad fade? Gunna do track work? If the answer to any of these questions is no, save the coin and remain stock.

Also, all light bulbs for VR6's are standard sizes - you'll be able to get the bulbs at any repco, supercheap, etc...

288mm in the front is pretty decent in a little car from the 90s, wait until you can upgrade callipers etc too, otherwise that money could be better spent elsewhere.

P.s. Can we have some pics of the new monster??

Thanks for the advice guys. Do I have to go with OEM or is there a good replacement for the stock discs that will save me a bit of coin?

She's arriving tomorrow. There's a bit of a story behind what actually happened and i'll tell you once i've got the car and handed over the money hehe.

Btw: Are the motor mounts a big job? this car might be due a timing chain soon (at 180klms but still quiet, but hasnt been done yet) so would it be worth me waiting until then to get the mounts done? Or should I just be doing them and holding off for the chain for now?
