VR6 Overheating

For a while I thought my thermostat was stuffing up, but I checked the top and bottom pipes and both are hot. I cant figure out why it is over heating? The fan kicks in when it gets to 110c so I know the fans working. Any thoughts?

Update: Just been reading that the fan wont kick in until it's boiling unless you have the A/C on. So I went for a drive with the A/C on and it seems to have fixed this issue. Will have to take it for a longer drive to confirm but the results were pretty good, sitting at traffic lights on a 33c day for over a minute and didn't get over 90c.

But very confusing as to why you have to have the A/C on for the fan to kick in before it overheats...

Your thermo switch on your radiator must be faulty or there is a lot of gunk behind it so it's not getting correct temp reading before it boils. Switching air on is just a band aid and hasn't fixed it mate

Do you believe this would remedy the problem? http://www.urotuning.com/Coolant-Tem...025906041a.htm . Or would it be best to get that as-well as a whole new Thermostat Housing Kit?

No mate, im talking about the thermo switch on the radiator, or gunge behind it, but you would need to remove it anyway, if it were in fact your thermostat that you mention it would overheat all the time, you are having it in traffic and not if you turn the ac on, therefore the fans are not coming on, on their own accord so its whats controlling that, the thermo switch

The fans that turn on at 110 is the stage 3 fan looks like your radiator switch is dead or dirty as said above

Figured out what you the Thermo switch is, then ran the fan test and still wasn't working, checked the fuse, the fuse was blown. Cant believe I completely missed the most vital step haha. But now I will wait and see if it blows again and if it does then more likely than not its either the switch of the wire coating has rubbed through and is contacting the body somewhere. Thanks for the help, even though it may not have been the problem it lead me to figure out what it actually was.
