    VR6 Not Running Right

    hey guys..

Got a bit of an issue here. Golf was running absolutely fine then one day, went for a drive, let her sit for a while and was fine. Gave her some beans to go and she just died and sounds like it was a switch. It continually didnt want to run right, choppy/rough idle and sounded like a lawn mower.

I googled it and searched it here and the possibilities are endless it seems as to what is wrong with it.
    The car has:

    New leads
    New plugs
A broken PCV valve (like all Mk3 VR6s but hasn't ever been a problem)
Great looking clean, coil pack but unsure of age.

What I have done to try and fix/diagnose the problem:
-Tested each ignition lead with pliers to arc it, all leads are getting spark so coil pack seems to be working?
-Made sure all spark plugs are tight
-Unplugged and plugged the cam position sensor and it made no difference whilst it was running
-Swapped all leads around to determine if one of my new leads were faulty and they werent.
-Cleaned the MAF with maf cleaner and made no difference

It just seems the more and more I play with it, the worse it has gotten.
It backfires and spits and pops on idle and has a loud ticking/popping noise every few seconds and I'm absolutely baffled as to what it could be...

My apprentice mate said it could be PCV, cam position sensor, coil pack, fuel filter and much more. I just dont get what or how the car keeps on running worse and worse?

I am ordering a VAGCOM clone cable to use on my computer, any used a free software and made this work?
Already ordered a new coilpack as I got a steal off evilBay so that should be here in a few days.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

    Jono.

It sounds like pcv valve diaphragm to me - this thing:

    Volkswagen Corrado VR6 12v > Engine > ES#4463 PCV Valve Diaphragm - 021133429A

have a look at the back of the engine for a piece of plastic that will be what is left of yours (if it self destructed) cause erratic idling and stalling because un metered air is now being sucked into your engine

    hey dark,

yeah man, but my pcv has been cracked since for ever..I am talking like 3 months and the car has run fine?
I dont get it hey, how could that make it run crap now?

I saw that PCV valve, but its weird because the PCV valve runs like this..

    Entrance >>> body >>> Exit

and the ESC tuning one runs the inlet/outlet on the same side?
