    What kind of shudder is it? Does it occur at low revs?

    I had a stuttering problem at low revs in 1/2 gear but that was due to bad leads. It's not easy seating those leads properly... you don't want to damage them and at the same time you don't want to brake the stupid tool.

    Yeah low revs. I am not keen on having the oil pump serviced if its not that problem. Its going to be costly for an old car. At the same time, this is a reputable VW mechanic, and its hard to dispute it.

    I am going to change the leads anyway, just waiting on ordering some.

    Finally ordered and got the plug leads, from Dubaddition. Solved my problem. Drove it hard today, and its goes as well as before.
