VR6 idle and fuel issues
Hey guys have a couple of queries.
Got a VR6, has rough idle at times particularly when braking, so I'm assuming there's a vacuum leak or a problem with the fuel? It idles fine from start, but any load at idle it will hesitate or stall. What I'm asking are there any vacuum hoses on a VR6 that are prone for leaks, if so where are they? I've had a look, can't hear/feel anything, also pulled engine cover off and inspected but no luck...
On another note I have a strong smell of fuel in the cabin when ever I fill up, would assume its a problem around the tank/seal in boot, but there is no evidence of leaks and smell is no stronger there, if anything stronger towards front of car. Am I missing something?
Any help is much appreciated
Cheers,
Mike

VR6 idle and fuel issues
Fuel smell will be fuel lines, pretty common. I got braided lines for $50 delivered from the dubnutz.
They will come from drivers side firewall to the fuel rail.
If it isn't engine bay, probably something to do with the inspection cover in the boot.

If the fuel pump has ever been replaced it is possible the tank seal wasnt seated properly.
You can tell by removing the fuel pump cover under the carpet in the boot prior to filling up your tank next time. After you put the fuel in have a look and see if any fuel has pooled at the top of the tank. It will generally leak if its more than 75% full.

Cheers guys. I've checked the fuel lines, doesn't appear to be any fuel and smell is most prominent in the cabin, so hopefully problem is with the tank seal, will definitely check next time I fill up.
