    VR6 hose help

    Hi Guys,

the car in question is my beautiful 1996 Golf VR6.
i have a split in a hose, and might need a part number or correct name of the hose so i can find one in stock...
the hose runs from the head, near the exhaust manifold, to the heater.
it has a T section about 1/3 of the way there, and that goes off to an (what appears to be) and electronically driven valve.

i hope this description isnt too vague!

if you can point me in the right direction here, it'd be much apprectiated.

If its the hose I'm thinking your meaning. I have a spare. I'll take a pic when I get to work to see if it's the right one

Pretty sure I know which one you mean, it runs to the throttle body? I'd just give that description on the phone to some parts places and they'll figure out what you mean, not sure what its technically called, id just say the heater hose with a hose running to the throttle body about half way along.

    This one? Volkswagen Golf III VR6 12v > Engine > Cooling > Hoses > ES#2490 Coolant Hose - 3 Point Hose - 1H0121157H

The part number in the US for that is 1H0121157H, although sometimes the part numbers for things over here are different, and that one might not be recognised. For engine parts like that though theyre often the same.

It is the same number for both LHD and RHD. If you want a genuine one in adelaide, be prepared to pay about $150 from the dealer

On my old vr6 I just ran a bit of generic straight bit heater hose without a T section from the head to the heatercore, and ran the other hose that comes off the radiator hose into the throttle body straight to the expansion tank, if that makes any sence, bypassing the throttle body all togethor. In Australia, there is basically no point in having coolant pass through the throttle body, and I was running a sexy shaved throttle body which didnt have the coolant flang anyway, so I had to do it, but theres no reason why you couldnt skip it anyway.

That would cost say $10-$15, but if you want to keep things working the way they were originally designed, then you'll either need to find a second hand one in Australia, pay the big money for a new one, or wait a while for one to come from overseas for a bit cheaper.

I have found complete silicone hose sets for the vr6 for under $200 shipped, have to come from overseas though and could take weeks, lost the link when I changed computers but I think it was off ebay, from a chinese company which had decent reviews amongst people in the JDM scene.
