I filled up last night with nice tank of 98, as per usual, and thought I would try and drive exceptionally nicely to see how low I could go...

OK, it was only 5km's and it was round suburban street so there was a few stop starts at intersections, but at the same time there was a bit of 80 zone while I headed home.

Now I was babying it... to the point where I just wanted to hurt myself, the consumption was still damn hard to keep under 10.

I know being on longer stretches of road sitting at 60+ will help alot, but some of these low figures people keep quoting are beyond me.

Good luck to you if you can get these figures, but I just can't do it...

Agreed! I have tried a 22km distance from my house to work during the night late I was able to get it under 10 but this was with green lights most of the way! Usually this run is 12~13 normally

I do. I drive down the monash at 7:30am, then up springvale road, to blackburn, and get 9.5L/100k's

Its a bit funny, i probly get the best economy possible out of a VR6, and i still want to improve it!

I get like 480-500ks per tank at figures like 9.7L/100km . . . thats more highway driving than anything else . . .

    Filled up last night:

    MFA: 11.1
    Calculated: 11.6

I keep filling up at the local BP with 98 so I'm reasonably confident I'm getting the same fill level and quality fuel each time.

The needle was just hitting the red marks and I had gotten 377.9Km on 43.85L of fuel.

You need to come to Sydney and I'll show you how to drive that VR6 the way your supposed to drive a VR6...
