    Removing sikaflex???(help)

    Hey all,
Im thinking of removing my wheel arch trims from my vr6 but i know at least one of them has been stuck to the body when it was replaced, using black sikaflex (or something very similar). I was wondering what would be the best way to remove the sikaflex from the body of the car if possible? and with doing as little damage as possible.

    Cheers
    Dom.

Fishing wire if you've got any works well. I've also found a nice sharp serated steak knife works well just becareful near the paint as it will scratch it quite easily.

I am in the same boat as my rear driver side arch is stuck on with sikaflex and used the above method to remove it. Looks like I have to remove it again though

Do the fish line method, but you'll still have some residue around - go to Bunnings and look for this product called "Goof Off". Some places put them in the weirdest places, so ask one of the attendants.

The windscreen guys usually use thin wire on sikaflexed windscreens, seeing as its so close to the paint i would use fishing line then prepsol or acitone. If there are chunks lift go to the hardware store and get a caramel wheel its a rubber piece with a bit attachment they are cheap too fit it to a drill and use on an angle at low speed just nice and slow and dont keep on one spot for too long as will take away paint.

Will remove wax though, so you'll just have to wax the area again.
