    VR6 Exhaust/Engine troubles

    Hi all,

Just wondering if someone can diagnose a problem that startedf for me today.
While creeping along riding the clutch in second gear, the car nearlly stalled. Suddenly the engine started running on fewer cylinders. I assumed it went into 'limp mode' or whatever it is where after a while it comes good again. But alas, it hasn't. Then I noticed it becoming smelly like something was burning. I had a look under the car and found the resonator next to the gear lever was glowing red hot.

Any ideas what has caused all this fuss and how to fix it?

ANSWER: Busted coil pack. Unburnt fuel igniting in cat converter.
