    VR6 Engine very high

Just noticed yesterday my VR6 engine seems very high, actually appears higher than the top of the front wings, i'e too high.

Haven't had chance to look at it, just wondering what I've done wrong.

I installed BFI mounts a couple of months ago, all seemed fine. Then I had the front control arms to re-bush when I put my CUP kit in about a month ago. I had to unbolt the drivers and front mount to get the control arm out, wondering if I didn't put things back right, but not sure what I could have done wrong.

Anyone any ideas or seen this before?, I need to sort this out tomorrow night.

Does the hood still close? If so, your cheering as your sump is no longer in danger.

I installed bfi mounts and they were a good inch higher then my sagged stock ones.

VR's do sit pretty high. You should see one with engine mount spacers installed. Doesn't even look like the bonnet is gonna close!

hey, I hadn't thought about the advantages of the higher engine.

The hood only just closes and the engine cover is getting scratched, it's only got scratched in the last couple of weeks since I re-did the front end.

I'll take the mounts out to-nite and check it all out.

Did you put both parts of the mounts on one side also?

    OK I've had the mount out to-nite and took it to pieces, all looks ok provided I've used the right bit of urethane. here's a couple of photo's;

Firstly this is what i noticed, the lines across the cover

    view from the front

    view from the side

Without the mount installed the engine moves up and down without interference.

Even with the crooked engine and the bonnet closed there is 15mm of clearance so I've no idea how those lines got there.

Anyway, now I'm not bothered about the clearance but more that the engine isn't flat and looks wrong. The only thing I can think is that I installed the front urethane in the drivers mount and vice versa.

Anybody got any ideas? Does it look worng/right?

    This is how mine looks.

The front and rear mounts are the same thing. So it doesn't matter. I think the tranny mount should be a bit higher thus making the engine more horizontal.

Eyes must be poor I can't see anything!

OK that rules out the wrong bits in the wrong mount. The transmission mount came in the same kit, wonder if it was the wrong one.

I'd like to see how yours looks

I meant. Mine looks like yours.

I'll show your some photos. Cars getting some stuff done till Thursday though.

I have also ordered motor mount spacers to put in soon too. But they do require the removal of the insulation from the bonnet. Maybe if its a big deal for you rubbing you could take it out too?

Ok, I'm a bit happier if yours looks like mine, but it doesn't look great.

Where are you getting the spacers, wouldn't mind looking at those.

The marks actually rubbed off the cover so no real damage.

Would probably look nicer under the bonnet with that insulation removed.
