check the bolts are tight! Sometimes they can magically undo themselves if not torqued up properly.
Also check the front crossmember where it is welded to the chassis legs. Sometimes the welds can fail and the crossmember flaps around on one side
hey guys my vr6 is starting to make a clunking noise when i’m changing gears, feeling a thump after pulling the clutch and if i accelerate quickly it makes a funny noise... my engine must be moving about a bit because i noticed that the rocket cover is rubbing on the under-side of the bonnet (i can see the rub marks) This has only started happening today, its not extreme... I can avoid it by driving softly.
Anyone got any advice?
Its got brand new engine mounts installed 3 months ago.. i don’t know if its got anything to do with that?
cheers

thanks tim, il check it out in the morning. there seems to be more action with the engine and im noticing the front wheels are a bit wobbly too... they seem to be moving at the hub more than they should.
i must have picked up a lemon.

Stick with it mate. They all need work and its always going to be a love/hate relationship, but theyre such damn charismatic things to drive its all worth it.
im feeling it mate, i only realised recently why i love VW's so much- the symbol bares my initials! I’ve been subliminally buying these damn cars that give me such a hard time and i couldn’t figure out why i love them. Yeah ill work on it until it’s how i want it. I am kind growing fond of the imperfections too... they are annoying in the beginning but you come to love them somehow. They are expensive to repair and often annoying cars but, bring me so much joy! so yeah I’ve had MK3s MK4s and a 99 polo thus far jah belss the VW.
