those are some pretty good prices imo, alot of people on here buy parts from overseas such as german auto parts, and Autohaus Arizona.
so yeah totally stuffed head (4 bent inlets, 2 bent exhausts) due to guide failure...
needs new upper guides at least...
ive managed to get these prices on parts
inlet valves - $15ea
ex valves - $33ea
head gaskit - $85
head bolts - $85 set
guides - $40 + $50 + $60 + $160
who are u guys getting your parts through and are they better than these?
those prices are for locally available stock from an engine reconditioner...
are there any local parts suppliers that have them available...
ive tried: nasons, MDS, austral, ASV....
any other local suppliers?

Hi i'm alex, what's your name?Just rude , , ,
You probably could introduce yourself dude..
Those prices seem pretty good to me. I'd go with it. Heads are very expensive to have work done on them, because there's lots of small parts that cost a fair amount to manufacture.![]()

Only other place I can suggest is Tooley Imports in Waitara. Just as a comparison.
I have a fully rebuilt head sitting on the shelf here, skimmed, new valves and guides and stem seals. ready to go on. Yours for $650.

hi guys......
called up vw dealership today for some prices.....lets just say i aint willing to sell my kidneys so I aint got enough money to buy from them.....really really scary prices....
Think I might buy the timing kit from GAP and get the other stuff locally....
cheers
i would but the head's already in the shop and is costing $250 to have it reconditioned which includes surfacing and cutting seats but not parts.... need to add parts to that but....
So by the time you have added parts and labour, it will cost heaps more than the price of my rebuilt head.
Be careful that the machine shop know what they are doing. VR6 heads are very unusual and knowledge of them in Oz is thin on the ground.
My engine rebuilder is very experienced and even he had to build a jig so he could mill it on an angle.
Good luck with whatever you decide.
