    Fusebox, relay marked 167

    Mk3 GL
    Relay marked 167?

It's positioned bottom right, as in closest to drivers door.

It's making alot of noise, ticking rapidly, the window regs make a sound but don't go down and the car doesn't start, it might not be this that's the problem... but sounds like a good start.

    Thoughts?

that is the crank sensor/fuel pump relay

and ticking gereal means the relay is working
so id say the crack sensor is playing up

or like in my case the fuel pump has shat itself but the crank sensor is a bit of a common thing on vr's

ive got both if you want to test to see if it works?

if not JMAC is your man

    Cheers bud,

but do you reckon that would stop the car from attempting to fire. Nothing happens when I turn the key except a few electircal things. New window reg might have drained the battery, but a few things seem to work, annoyingly that silly bonging sound is still there and not fading like I'd expect it to with a dead battery. I'm sure this happened when I was testing a window reg, so I might be barking up the wrong relay.

If you're in Bris (Westside) at some stage give me a yell though, that would be helpful.

I'll give Jimmy a break from my car troubles for at least a day.

    Any more thoughts?

Well without the fuel pump relay you would get cranking but obviously no fuel so the car wont start. If your not getting any cranking at all your battery might be flat like u said.

The silly bonging noise is from a relay on a separate connector mounted on top of the fusebox. Rip it out and the only effect will be the lack of noise

167 is 100% the fuel pump relay, if you think thats whats faulty then bridge the 2 big terminals on the fuse box, the fuel pump will run.
    cheers
