Thread: VR6 acceleration problem??

    it sounds very like what was happening to my car.. does the temperature of the motor make any difference ie: does it only happen when car is cold or hot or always and also does the fuel level make any difference ie: does it only happen when fuel is at lower point of tank capacity or always.
    the reason i ask is it only happened to my car when the car had warmed up but it also occured more intensely when the fuel was low. so mechanic thought it was to do with fuel system problem ie: filter, pump
    but after trial and error, we ended up changing the leads and coilpack and car has run perfectly since.... hope this may help because i know when i had this problem it was one of the most frustrating things i have ever experienced

    Nah, issue is constant no matter the fuel or temp. Will change the leads and plugs regardless, drop the oil and change the fuel filter & if it still ain't right look into the coil pack I guess ...

    Thanks for everyones advise and direction.............

    It turned out to be one faulty lead causing all that cough and splatter would you believe. I can now say I've been given an insight into the VR6 World.

    Still going to give it a service and change plugs, filters etc however it does run a hell of alot better.

    I would believe that unfortunately! It's crazy what such a small issue can do to the running quality of the car. Glad you got it sorted though dude!

    From my personal experience, I'd advise you change all the leads anyway. This EXACT thing has happened to me, and while I replaced the lead that was faulty, it was only a matter of time before it started spluttering again. I'm about to change my spark plugs too - it's the last thing on the list of potential electrical problems. If my car keeps running badly, I'll have to look elsewhere, and that will get expensive!
