Whenever I would turn the fan on, it would blow bits of old, 20 year old foam through the vents. Decided to take the vents off, take off the dash plastics and clean what I could. Great thing about these cars is, you can take off everything pretty much with a philips head screwdriver and a dash removal tool. Just have to be careful not to break the plastic as it is a bit more brittle than something like the MK6
As I was doing this, decided to take out the factory headunit as well.
Here is the OEM connector which hooks up to the wiring loom inside the dash. As you can see, it's frayed, and has seen better days.
Also, replaced the windshield washer jets. Brand new OEM VW part. The old washer on the driver side was clogged and wouldn't spray.
New on the right. Old on the left. You can see the jets have deteriorated.
Received the hood lift struts made specifically for the MK3. Cheap and effective mod and gets rid of the "stick" being in your way when working in the engine bay.
The Vento never came with a keyless entry system or anything like that. It only unlocks the driver side when I unlock it with the key from the driver side. I suspect either the Vento has a failed central locking pump or it's simply non existant. Either way, I picked up this genuine central lock pump for cheap (second hand but in perfect working condition, complete with cover). All I gotta do now is locate the original pump (if it had one, which I am hoping), replace it with this one and hopefully it's happy days.

Engine bay freshness. New engine bay plastics. I'm going to keep the old ones and do a refurb on them later on, but scored some brand new plastics.
Old :
Comparison
I also noticed one of the bolts were sheared off. FFS...this is gonna be a pain in the ass to remove...Any ideas on how to remove this?
Installed. So much nicer. Cleans the bay up nicely. Also cleaned the ignition leads and removed any grease/residue from them.
My passenger side door mouldings was starting to come apart and lift off the door. Got some OEM clips and replaced all the clips on the passenger front moulding. At the moment, I've only done just the one but will be replacing it on all the mouldings.
Old. Pryed the existing clips off with a plier. Didn't matter if I cracked it because I was replacing the whole thing anyway
New clips
