I got my rubber mats and other car accessories from Travall. They are awesome! They fit perfectly - they aren't customised but are designed to each particular model specifically. No modification, cutting or anything like that. A little pricey but well worth the investment, mate! https://www.travall.com.au/rubber-car-mats. I don't think I am ever going to choose any other brand if I am honest.

Looks tough!
Small update
Items which needed somewhat immediate attention have now been addressed, including :
- Did a full service on the car with fresh oil and new oil filter
- All fluid flush (brake, clutch, power steering, coolant, oil) and topped with fresh new fluids
- Replaced oil gasket with brand new item for the oil filter housing to stop the slow oil leaks
- Full suspension refresh on the front and rear with new strut tops, bushings etc
- Brand new FK streetline coilovers installed to replace the HotTuning ones that came with the Vento
- Brand new OEM coolant reservoir installed with fresh G12++ coolant
- Brand new OEM power steering reservoir installed
- Brand new rear wheel bearings installed
- Brand new CV outer and inner boot installed and regreased to replace torn boot
- Brand new aluminium radiator installed to replace old radiator as it had a hole and was leaking
- Brand new Accessory Belt and Belt Tensioner installed
- Fuel filler reseated so fuel doesnt leak when filled to the brim
The last major mechanical things to tackle will be :
- replacing the timing chains,
- installing a new clutch,
- getting a new lightened flywheel
- a/c condenser and compressor with a/c oil
- heater core
all of which require/will make life easier once the engine is out. Once this is addressed, then the car will be up to scratch mechanically.
Following this will be a rebuild of a set of 16 inch BBS RS wheels I have in storage, going with slightly bigger polished slant lips, wider barrels and refurbed OEM BBS bolts.
Then a much needed respray will be on order, followed by interior headliner retrimmed and sound system installed with working headunit.
Few new parts on order.
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Tensioner Pulley
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Alternator Pulley
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Crank Pulley
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Power Steering Pulley
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Waterpump Pulley (incl. new OEM waterpump with metal impeller)
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Coolant Pipe (AKA crackpipe)
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Upper Radiator Hose Y Pipe
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Aluminium Shift Cable Repair Blocks
- Gruvenparts VR6 Billet Dipstick
- Gruvenparts MK3 Billet Aux. Water Pump Bracket
- Gruvenparts MK3 Billet Strut Covers
- Gruvenparts 02A Short Shift Kit
Will do all this when chains + clutch and flywheel are being done i.e when engine is out
Time to rebuild the BBS RS's to mount on the Vento!
At the moment, looking at a
- 16x8 fronts and rears
- polished slant lips on front and rear
- silver centre
- black BBS centrecap with gold lettering
- refurbed and polished BBS bolts
- including the 15mm adaptors (5x100 to 5x114 PCD) final offset will be about ET25 front, ET15 rear I think
Spltting sh*t...with help from rayray
Inspiration for my Vento. He's on air I think, but I'll be running static so prob won't be that low.
PS : love those schmidt TH lines!

Vento VR6 and Golf VR6
Wow, now that's an update. Loving what you are going with it.
good to see this getting the love it deserves - keep it up!
I bought a headunit wiring harness which is meant to be a plug and play from the car to the headunit i bought, as I had bought the one which was specific to my headunit. However, when I plugged in the harness to the car and then plugged the connector to the back of the headunit, it wouldnt turn on.
Joe did mention <here> that the loom is a frankenstein jobbie from both the VR6 and the Ventos. However, when I tried to turn the headunit on, it simply wouldnt.
Aforementioned wiring. I used the two harnesses on the left as theyre the ones which were plugged into the OEM headunit when I got the Vento. The ones on the right, I have no idea so I just left them.
Wiring harness plug and play to my Pioneer headunit. Clipped the black to black, brown to brown, then connected the black connector to the back of the headunit, but no power.
Any idea on why it wouldn't power on?
