Exclamation Urgent problems with mk3 vr6

Hey all I recently purchased my 95' mk3 vr6 and it was running fine until the other day it just died on it's ass. The engine is making a horrible idle note an running real rough. Also it has no power at all in any gear. It still runs but bearly. Constant loss of revs and Stalls at hill from 1st gear. It just feels like its missing a cylinder (or 2). There is a fair amount of soot in the exhaust pipes and appear that unburnt fuel is making it to the pipes.

Ive been researching a bit. Could this be a problem with the MAF, similar symptoms have pointed to this from online forums but I thought I'd check with you guys? Quite possible the timing on the cylinders is way out. Also I've heard that faulty plugs can dislodge the idle dampeners in the rear of the vr6 engine. Could it be that injector are past there use by date.

Cheers for the advice I'll have a go at that Tomor in the morning. If still no solution I'll have to get run on a VCDS. Have a feeling it is going to be more than one problem.

It just can't deal with delivering power to the wheels. If I don't get it to around 2500-3000rpm when taking away from stopped it just stalls. But it is defiantly not the clutch.

its normal for it to stall cause once your @ 2500 3000 rpm the ignition is firing more often and more is getting past.

    Coilpack or leads.
Look at them at night in the dark. If you see sparks, that is the problem.
DONT Touch it, turn the engine off and then investigate.

Hahah yeh Ithink I've been looking at the mad to much...

Looks the previous owners done a dodgey job with some epoxy cement.

So I got it booked in for a service onsaturdau is it still drivable or will I have to get it towed to replace the coilpack?
