Yeah mk4 sized rubber..
205/55/15 or 205/50/15 for a mk3 vr?
Mk3 should run a 195/50/15 or similar. Sounds like you have mk4 spec wheels on

I do have mk4 spec wheels on, I know this. Not sure if this is possible or a stupid question but can I use the tires from the stock wheels (the mk3 BBS wheels)?

yeah if both 15s that'll be fine but your current tyres are too big
Roll guards and fit 205/50/15
They say pictures are a thousand words so here's one. The thing is, I couldn't really find where the wheels were rubbing but it did sound like they were so maybe it's actually the springs that are bad? I know that if I press into the car on the rear right the spring creaks. Was like this from the start.

Id say the top of tyre was hitting body.
As said above. Your tyre sizes are to big, even for factory mk3.
Take the wheel off and you'll get a better idea if it's rubbing?

It's probably the tread of your tyre inside the wheel well. Not the guard on sidewall. As stated if you take the wheel off you might see something. M
