    Timing Chain Prices

    hey guys, so the vr6's looking like the chains are needing to be replaced, they're getting noisey.
    the local vw bloke says he cant do it,
    so i wanted to know who's had them done, by which shop, and for how much? (labour etc.)
    in the sydney area...

    I found it clear enough before

    Not being from sydney I can't really help, but Golf Loon may be able to do it.

    Or if your time is worth less then money there are a few quite detailed DIY's out there, isn't an easy job though.

    umm yeah im sure i read a figure of 2000 on another thread,
    i was hoping for someone to say they found something a little less steep, cant reall afford it atm.

    Curious 2 know why the local vw mechanic said he could'nt do them ? Was it he could'nt do them for the price you were willing 2 pay or was it he had never done a VR6 timing chain before ?

    yeah well, hes well known in the scene im told, does alot of custom work with the aircooled engines, but yeah, i just rocked up and he said he couldnt.
    recommended 'muller muller' i think it was?

    Hi,

    Just wondering did you ever get to the bottom of this? Considering the same myself - '94 Golf VR6. Did you get your chain changed or have a suggestion as to how much it should cost and who might be good to do it.

    Do any of you guys want to group buy timing chain sets? I would be interested in changing mine even though it was done 30K ago.
    Camden are probably the best at it. Cheers
