i cant say that it would ever enter the engine it wouldn't be possible
the reason iv done it so it lowers the fumes,
before it didn't smell too good
i hardly ever emptied it anyway i think it took 3 months and it only filled about a quarter

I like that idea of extending the screw thread so you can put on a hose fitting on the inside. As for the steel wool, I hear a lot of people do that to act as an oil/air separator, i.e. trapping as much oil vapour as possible. Didn't think about stray metal being sucked up though - there is a chance seeing as the airflow is moving from the catch can towards the intake. Maybe a small baffle (like the ones you see in the more expensive oil funnels you can buy) could be used to fit over the hose that leads to the intake?

i cant see how the air flows from the catch can to the intake isnt it opposite
i mean the waste comes from the rocker cover into the catch can

Yeah that's correct, but what comes in must come out too right? It might be a very slim chance that any piece of metal would get sucked up since the output hose travels from the catch can back to the intake.

Another way to think about it is that the pressure from the crankcase/rocker cover is usually higher than inside the intake tube. We know that anything from a high pressure/density will want to move to a place of lower density, and that's where we get the air/oil flow from the engine to the intake (with the catch can in between).

Wait, is your output from the catch can routed back to the intake or just filtered out into the atmosphere?

its just filtered to the atmosphere hence the reason why i put the ss wool in plus the exhaust silencer filter
