You need lots of leverage mate, throw a jack arm on the Allen key and and spanner on the socket.
In his pic I used two jack arms as I have a vw tool to remove the nut but you get the idea.
Hey all, so i'm trying to get my stock suspension out. I've started on the front and so far so good. Untill i reached the 22mm nut ontop of the strut. I don't have access to a rattle gun or whatever it's called, so i'm using a 22m spark plug socket and a 7mm allan key. Though no matter how hard i try, the allan key + strut still move with the socket. Am i doing something wrong? I've covered the nut with WD40 plenty of times and left it to soak in, but no luck! please help, thanks

Thanks heaps Anthony! Went back out and put the jack arm on the allen key giving me heaps more leverage and a little bit of elbow grease and they came off! Thanks again mate.

Check that the coils didn't come with new bolts. I have found different struts have different thread but usually bolts are supplied so it isn't an issue
Yeah, i got new bolts with it. With the fronts though i can't use my nut i bought, or my strut cap. Have to use the old strut cap, but can use the bearing and the rubber mount, so that's okay i guess. Also, for the fronts it's Bearing, Rubber Mounts, Nut/Washer looking thing, Strut cap then last bolt ontop? That's what i've got/seen from stock setup, hope it's right! Getting a rattle gun and air compressor tomorrow, hopefully that works, as the new coilovers don't have an allen key hole at the top to hold the thread while putting the nut on, so i couldn't get them down by hand. Fingers crossed this rattle gun does the job.
I'm not going to need a special tool am i? It's just a regular nut?

Maybe a deep socket to get down on it when the thread starts poking through but other than that with the rattle gun all should be good
Sweet as! Thanks for all your help Anthony, i'll keep you posted tomorrow and let you know how it went.
