wow, didnt know they did a kit for that, its still pretty expensive i think though, i would rather get a new one or definately a smaller one anyway.
whats the go with putting on an after market sterring wheel on the VR6 here in Australia?
If anyone like me that has a sun damaged steering wheel and is thinking of replacing or recovering put doesn't want to pay that much money. take a look at a company called Isotta that do DIY leather recovering kits.Still a little pricey ($150 delivered) but I've ordered one.will post pics when done.

The first thing you are likely to loose is your drivers airbag, which also means it's going to light up that little warning light permanently (unless it can be disabled by VAG COM).
If your still interested up to here you should be right getting a BOSS kit then anyone of a about a million different sports stearing wheels.
If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you. | Refer a Friend - AussieBroadband $50 Credit
would you have to put the old one back on when it came to getting it pink slipped again though?
if you remove the original steering wheel you need to get an engineers certificate. It's a law (in NSW afaik but could be part of the ADR) that you are not allowed to take away from any of the original saftey features.
No engineers certificate, no rego.
I might do that leather re-covering thing too... sounds interesting... might get my seats done at the same time.
Seats your looking at $2-3000 worth just to do it its very time consuming I can tell you that. I have been told its going to take 3 weeks for seats and door cards, and my bourberry headliner
I'm soo euro even my missus is shaved...
bloody hell! thats heaps! screw that - i'm buying some recarros...
Over in my part of the world, its a big no no. Out and out illegal. Removal of the airbag is considered unroadworthy and you'll get a yellow sticker (WA's idea of car potentially unroadworthy, needs to be checked by engineers, etc blah blah) on the spot.
I've had aftermarket wheels before on other cars, and as nice as they were I actually prefer the stock wheel in my VR6. Nice leather, nice size, horn buttons in good spots, funky green VW logo... whats not to like??
