    Starter Motor Bushing

    Hey guys!
As you know my starter shat itself, but it's been fixed and awaiting pick up!
But, i've been told that the starter motor bushing the rod goes into might be shagged!!!
    Any ideas?
    It's a 02A with a 4 cyl bell housing for the ABF...
    Thanks!

The bush in the bell housing??
To remove it I wind a 12m/m tap into it. When the tap bottoms out it winds the bush out.
With the new bush, put it on your finger and fill it with oill Place another finger on the other end and compress the oil till it starts coming out of the sides of the bush. Its impregnable.
That done carefully tap it into the bell housing hole.

Yeah mate showed some of the youngies tha trick with the bush and oil, that spins them out. Other one if you dont have a tap is to fill the thing with grease and push a mandrel into it , this hydraulics the bush out of its seat.

Awesome, but where can i source one of these bushes from?
Are they a stocked item or am I looking at a 2-3 week wait?

Thanks for the quick response, but it wasn't urgent as i don't have the starter motor back yet!

    Thanks!

Available at any VW parts place. About $5 or less and are the same as any 12v aircooler.

I finally got the starter motor fixed, and just picked up the new bush, but i don't have a tap yet.
I'm curious to see how this oil is going to come out of this metal bush, but i won't do it till i have the other one out.
The car has been off the road for 6 weeks now, it'll be fun to drive when it's all fixed!

    Car is go!
It's all back together now and it turns out there was never any bush in there in the first place. So, i installed it anyways, but the battery is a bit flat...

Time to clean the stoopid thing and then terrorise the neighborhood!
