    some weird indicator stuff

    Hey Guys,

So my car has developed this weird thing with the indicator - when I indicate left sometimes it makes this weird whirring noise and i have to sort of hold the indicator stalk down to make it indicate left otherwise it kinda whirs and VERY intermittently flashes. My first thought was the relay ....but I have never experienced the weird noises etc when a relay goes out? Anyone experienced this before?

the stalk could be on the fritz? bulbs can make indicators do funny things too if they're slightly off the right spec.

Could be the relay maybe, I have a spare one lying around somewhere I think, could probably dig it up if you wanted to try it.

I was having some really ****ing weird indicator problems and swapped my relay, but it didn't make a difference really. They were doing some funky **** though, my lights looked like some sort of disco, everything flashing randomly. I did have the problems you had from inside, it would be hard to get it to indicate or so it would seem (even though when I thought it was it wasnt anyway) but I didn't notice any sound. Have you checked from out side of the car if they're actually working right? My problem ended up being something to do with the connection to the brakelights, it screwed with the hole system. I just unplugged them cleaned it up, plugged them back in and it was all good Took ages to figure out though.

I had a problem once where buy every time I indicated it would blow a fuse- this also did weird things to the indicators I.e. Would only indicate left. It ended up being a faulty/broken hazard switch and I think the indicator stalk was also bung somehow. I'm inclined to think you have an indicator stalk problem
