    Some Questions about the VR...

Ey i just wanted to ask a few questions about the 1995 mk3 VR6 that i have...

    1. The clutch of my vr lets go over a long distance of releasing the pedal .. it wasn't like this 3 months ago .. its not that worn and definitely not slipping .. i'm thinking it needs to be adjusted ... Any comments on that??

    2. I was thinking of getting a BMC panel air filter and drill some holes ... Good or bad thing - should i go pod/k&n etc.?? Alternative Suggestions plz...

    3. When holding the throttle constant (in neutral))... lets say 1,200 rpm it will go up 150 - 200 rpm and down again .. its not constant compared to the gas pedal... but when driving its ok....

    4. Anyone know whats the best option for me regarding a chip for the VR6.. i'm in melbourne..

Thanks any help would be appreciated..

    1. Mine did it too and I don't know why. It's been fine for over a year though, so...
    2. definitely a good idea opening out the stock filter with a better filter and more holes is definitely better than a pod filter because you're still getting cold air with your stock box.
    3. I have no idea sorry
    4. Chips are usually not really worth the amount you have to spend on them, unless you're chipping your car for better benefits from other mods. Chips won't give too much gain (I think about 5-10kw or so? someone correct me) if you are running a stock engine; if you have a modified engine, for example one where you've opened out the intake, intake manifold, exhaust and cams, then the chip will be of better benefit. Modding the VR is a lot of money and usually not worth the effort because you could bolt on a supercharger and be done with it for similar money.

    Hope that helps .

Adding lots of holes to the box is going to let in warm air from the engine bay... so sort of like a pod anyway.

I would be very interested to see actual dyno results for stock vs pod vs CAI, I can't say I noticed much of difference going from pod > shielded pod > CAI (except for noise )

No not really cause the holes are at the bottom and your still got the stock box covering the main side which gets hot

That's pretty much it...basically, so long as you cut the holes where the hole in the engine bay is (basically where the intake airpipe goes) then you won't get much hot air at all I don't think there's a difference between pod and CAI, except for colder air which just means your car will run cooler and more efficiently it will be more healthy.

Mate about the clutch...I haven't done a thing to it. Still pulls fine.

i bought a K&N filter a cold air duct from super cheap or somewhere like that for $25 ,cut out a hole in the box fed the duct from the box to the front bumper vent plus i cut out sections of the box sounds pretty awesome.
