    some q's re hottuning coilovers and height (VR6)

    hi all

    just have some questions regarding lowering a vr6 (on standard wheels and rubber).

    i have ordered a set of hottuning coils from evorobin which will be fitted shortly (thanks man!). that being said, what is a good guide at lowering the car so that it sits level (i absolutely HATE rake of any kind. they remind me of hot rods). I know that my car sits slightly bum up but was just wondering if there were set ride heights for stock cars (ie front 140mm rear 160mm from road).

    ill also be planning on fitting 17's (205/40) soon and dont want to mess around adjusting the height again. so im willing to go slightly lower as i know the 17's will bring the height up slightly.

    soon after the wheels ill be putting on a euro front spoiler, will that drop the front by much? i dont wanna be scrapping over everything.

    If you like the way it sits now, get it on flat ground and measure from the ground to the bottom of the arch.

    Moving the platforms after you fit the 17s isn't that big a deal. You won't need to have the tracking and camber set again.

    The deep spoiler is a good bit deeper than the std one, maybe 20mm.

    The best way is to play around with the height adjustability once you have them in. Wind them about half way down before you put them in to save some time and effort later on. So much easier to adjust them when they arent in the car with all the added weight ontop!

    Im running the same coils as your getting (which might I add are fantastic!) and I have the rears wound down so there is still 90mm left of the thread from the bottom of the thread to the bottom of the 2nd collar nut (just under the spring basically)



    Thats with 195/45/16s and the car sits basically flat (im not a huge fan of rake either)

    what was you drop all round?

    No idea on drop all round, I never measured the bofore and after heights sorry!

    Lip scrapes occassionally on deep spoon drains, really badly designed driveways or hitting speed humps too quick! But at the end of the day its only plastic so it will flex. If it comes off (which mine does regularly) then just clip it back on again... simple

    The best thing about the coilover setup in our cars is the adjustability on height if you don't like it, or it scrapes, etc etc, just change it!

    I know it may be a bit of a PITA but at the end of the day who cares.. I'll be getting some coils soon and I'll need to wind mine down and up and down and up because I'm an indecisive mofo.

    changing the height on the coilovers isnt a big deal once they're installed. remove the wheel, wind them up by hand, stick the wheel back on and drop it down again makes it a lot easier if you have air tools and a trolley jack and jack stands are a must.

    You don't even what to remove the wheel, you can jack it up and reach over the top of the wheel, although there isn't as much room, it's still pretty easy.

    why isnt it safe? if you ever want to work on your car it'll be propped up on jackstands and you'll have your second most important organ under there most of the time.
