well i was thinkin i'd stay with stock just because its cheapest really, but since Loon just mentioned that Gripforce site, i looked on them and it looks like im gonna get a stage 2 kit too cheapest i can get it anywhere around here otherwise is like 495 Australian.

Loon they dont seem to be able to ship to my address straight through the website, do i have to contact them by email to set that up? looks like itll cost more than u paid still cheaper than anywhere here!

looks like itll be done tomorrow (thursday) at around lunch time, so im gonna get my brother to pick it up friday sometime.

fly wheel will be picked up tomorrow by Peter Orger's workshop tomorrow to lose some weight and probably be balanced. it currently weighs 7.8 kg (17.2lb) and im thinkin ill take it down to around 6-6.3kg (~13-14lb) so its not too light. dont wanna lose too much torque.

while i was there i took a gander at your block man its lookin good
curious as to what year your car is
as i was lookin at a shaft with some gears attached and rob said it ran the distributor. i thought only really early golf came with distibutors and were later upgraded to coilpacks

haha he thought it was for the distributor? thats weird he would have said that cos he asked me to give him the bush/bearing and the intermediate shaft so it could be installed there...im pretty sure he knows its not for the distributor.
mines a 97, no dizzy, its a coilpack one like yours

hows it all look, is it nice and clean? i hope so

ok so i just ordered my stage 2 clutch kit from gripforce! thanks Loon!
cost around $320 aussie, and should be here in less than a week. much cheaper than 500 aussie, whihc was roughly the cheapest i could find around here :S

gonna give rob a call now to pay for block and headwork

ps. i THINK only really early vr's like ones that came in corrados came with distrubutors, i think once they were in golfs they changed to coilpacks

thats what i'd thought, pretty sure they only came in the corrados, form like 89-92 or somethin if im not mistaken.

Peter Orger engineering took my flywheel today, it currently weighs 7.8kg, he is gonna take it down to 6kg so around 13.2 pounds. itll be lighter but not too light i dun think balanced too

yeah i thought as much thats why i was confused when he said it ran the distributor, oh well.

i machined mine last night, bought it down to about 6kg also
i didnt really want it too light i was a bit scared even to bring it to where it is now!!!
another 1.5 kg (10 pound) off again doesnt leave much meat left on it

yeah i'd heard some people had taken the stock one down to around 10 pounds (4.5ish kg) but thought that was a bit risky. plus i wanna be able to drive up hills without reving the t*ts off it haha
