How's it all going? Still in the shop? Any major/minor hiccups or the like?
Hey Killz this is an awesome thread, only just noticed it!! Where are did you get your headwork and block bored out?
Hey Tim, sorry man, I haven't been on here!
Cheers Matt, got all my work done By Will Chang at JHH Performance, though I doubt he wants anything to do with another vr6 after mine It's been pretty headachey . . .
Things i've done are as follows and I don't have any pics because i lost my copy of cs4 so I can't process the pictures of my camera
So I asked myself, "am I going to get serious with this or not?" so now . . .
ABS totally removed
Stock computer loom removed
all that crappy joint sealer in the engine bay and rear of the interior removed (what a job )
sanded and waiting on my super rattle can abilities once i work out what colour scheme
Manual windows throughout
fan/heater box gone
dash stripped of anything unnecessary
re-routed the rear lights loom so it's hidden
rebuilt and painted and fitted rear mk4 calipers with braided lines
pics when i get cs4 back somehow
Two of the latest hiccups have been;
He worked out the compression at 12.0:1 with the mk4 head gasket! ideally want it down to 11.5:1 so I can run it safely on pump fuel. So I had to buy C2 Motorsports metal standard thickness head gasket and ship it over priority styles!
And also the ring gap on the Wossner pistons is like 60thou plus! Whats up with that?? It needs to be somewhere round 13thou top and 20thou bottom I've emailed Wossner . . .
So a few hiccups, like the engine should have been near together but too bad so sad I guess. Haven't sorted the computer yet and the shop where I was going to get the exhaust done has given me a quote of $3'800, they are THE shop though, don't know, still deciding . . .
wow so this is going to be dedicated track then? No more daily?
Sounds pretty awesome.
$3.8k for a zorst ay... how much did Trent pay for his APR, like $2.5k? I guess that's out of a box though.
lmao, yes it's tuned to wherever you want your powerband; extractors, mandrel bent, race cat and muffler in 2 3/4" mild steel.
most probably wont due to the price but like i've said before, if it takes me longer to get the better stuff then i'll wait . . .
It wasn't ever going to be a daily to and from work, I have a run-a-round for that; This will be a weekend thrasher
Alex!!
I've just been to CES today to get my exhaust leak and fit a high flow CAT.
I talked to Trevor and he told me that you called him a couple of weeks ago. I really think you should go and visit him and let him show you how he would design your exhaust. Some things just can't be shown or explained over the phone. He showed me pics of an exhaust manifold he designed for a TT V6 so he has aleady done a VR before. His work and design are second to none, and i'll openly recommend his shop for anyone that wants to get a custom exhaust designed and fabricated. His aftersale support is also something that i'll mention. He fixed a broken support rod, as well as a cracked resonator (due to my worn out stock engine mounts) all for free. I doubt any other exhaust shop would have done any of this for me.
Hope this helps in making a decision on who will fab your exhaust.
