Good stuff. I definitely wouldn't mind a B&M short shift kit.

I tried to start a VR6/8v short shifter group buy a while back and no one was interested!!! I still got one for myself, bought from TMTuning. It was on special when I bought it so I dont know how much it is now, just check their website. Excellent communication, shipping was cheap too if I recall correctly.... the throw is much shorter and more solid but it didn't change the side-to-side slop. Dont quote me, but I think only the Neuspeed and maybe Dieselgeek ones reduce side-to-side (but at a premium price).

Must be way before most of us joined! Which one did you buy from TMTuning? Roughly how much was it shipped to your doorstep? And worth it, do you reckon?

i got the dieselgeek one. its about 30% front to rear reduction and 50% left to right reduction.
Sukebe. The the left to right reduction is done in the engine bay. You can probly make something up custom to be honest. From memory it was only a bit of a spacer or something. Hard to remember. it was one of the first mods i ever did to my car.

I just bought a B & M short shift kit which according to the box also fits the Bora/Golf GTI/VR6, 93-99 Passat VR6 (not many of them in Oz) and 98-99 Beetle.

part No. is 45106. (Summit Racing Part No. BMM 45106)

I rang Rocket Industries and the guy was friendly and helpful. He quoted $230 + GST. There were none in Australia. He said I could have one in around a week for an extra $130, or wait a month or so and only pay an extra $70-80.

I got on to the internet to the Summit Racing site. I had previously bought a set of spark plug leads for my 16V and also for my VR6 from them and I found their service first rate.

Their price was US$155.95. There is a US$23.95 overseas handling charge. There is a range of shipping options. I chose Express Post which cost US$37.85.

I ordered on Thursday 5th April 2007. I got confirmation that it had been shipped on Friday 6th May 2007. It arrived here at my door in Peregian Beach on Tuesday 10th May 2007. Plus they included a catalogue and stickers etc.

With the conversion I figure it will have cost me around $270.00 Australian. Sits official. Its cheaper and quicker to do it yourself.
