So if the vehicle is stationary and you increase the engine RPM the scrapping rate increases or while the vehicle is in motion or both?
Hey guys,
I have noticed a scraping noise when I am idling at a red light. The scraping goes hand in hand with my rpm's going up and down a little. It is not always there but it doesn't seem right.
Could the waterpump bearing cause the scraping? I guess that wouldn't influence the rpms, yeah I am not sure what could cause the symptoms.
Can anyone tell me what that could be? I hope it is nothing serious as I am driving the car quiet a bit.
Thanks

When I am standing still and let the engine idle (without steppig on the gas), I can hear a scraping sound that comes in constant time (after every rotation I guess) intervals and with every scrape the rpms surge a tiny bit, maybe 20-50 rpm. Once the car is warmed up the sound is gone and so is the swing in rpms.
I also tried it when rolling and having it in neutral, the same thing happens.
I hope that explains it a bit better.
Cheers
