Mike,
I've got no idea but i have the same problem lately, i seem to think its a fuel pressure issue.
Anyone know what the problem might be, when the car is left overnight on startup it idles rough for a few seconds, like a chugging noise, struggling for fuel and there is a slight fuel smell for a few minutes, then once it warms up runs ok and fuel smell dissapears. Smell is coming from the front of the car.
Cheers,
mike

filter, split line or weak connection somewhere, fuel pump...just a few bits i would look at
Sound of a V6 - still waiting on rails! was supposed to get them off GCP Mike but I haven't heard back from him yet to order them.
I had a similar problem a while ago and it turned out to be because my leads were so old they hadn't become rock hard and one of the cylinders wasn't getting any spark so fuel was just being dumped in the cylinder. New leads fixed the problem, and that had got to the point where it was only running on 5 cylinders and was really rough.
Seems like this is definitely a fuel pressure problem, prob in the lines as when they heat up they hold the pressure better and the smell goes away.
Will have to look into it and let ya know when I do
P.S, Think i got spotted yesterday (well my mrs had the car parked in ryde) and when she got back there was a camded GTI business card on the mirror, is that Golf Loon?
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, had I known he was in the area would have got him to drop some parts off for us, save the postage hehe..
haha cool, got em sorted now so should get em soon. Had a look at taking the factory seat out the other day, wasn't sure where to start. The one i did in my Nissan 200 was basic as, just 4 bolts out of the floor.
