Roadside Maintenance Kit

After looking at rayray086's thread and his excellent job on a false floor, I have been thinking of doing a similar thing but using it to store a Roadside Emergency Kit.

I was wondering if anyone here may have already had the same idea, and how they went about it.

I don't want to just throw everything in the boot, as the bottles will just slide all over the boot and create nothing but a huge mess.

Basically the kit would consist of:
A 5 Litre Bottle of Coolant
A 5 Litre Bottle of Engine Oil
A Bottle of Polish
A Chamois
A Sponge
A Can of Tyre Black

I'd probably substitute the coolant for plain water, then if you're in the desert you can drink it Chamois is good for getting rid of foggy windows, sponge may come in handy i guess but polish and tyre black? The emergency being an impromptu show and shine maybe? hehe Think i'd be more inclined to put some basic tools in there, spanners, screwdrivers, vise grips are a MUST HAVE for clamping off leaky brake lines and 1001 other uses, pliers, side cutters, WD40, some heavy gauge wire with springy clamps on and some jumper cables. Maybe a few other things, oh and a torch

Lol I`d agree with pullstarter. Maybe some spanners 10, 13, 17, 19 and a cheap socket set.

I'm hoping to do that soon as well!! I've also bought a fire extinguisher from SuperCheap which is small enough to be stored easily. Louis helped me out with the false floor and he's since made one himself but with an added fire extinguisher section as well. Very neat.

My idea for a tool compartment in the boot would be in the indent just beside the strut tower behind the taillight on the driver's side. You could easily make a parting of some sort using MDF and make a mini-compartment with a latch door. The 6N Polo has something similar built-in already but it's used to store the OEM first aid kit.

I've yet to tackle it but it will be something I'll need to do before I go on a roadtrip.

I reckon it would be awesome to custom-integrate some sort of tool holders (socket set sort of thing) INTO a false floor so all you had to do was open a latch and your tools were in a set ready to be pulled out. You could go nuts on everything, just pull up and pull out

Oh if only I had money, time and motivation...
