Removing side mirrors

Would anyone know how to remove and replace the side mirrors?

Any special tools needed?

my guess is that you have to pry off the plastic covers from the inside of the door, then this *should* expose some screws to undo. haven't taken the golf's off, but can't be too different to any other car!

There is a screw on the bottom of the mirror undo that.

Thanks for the replies. So far ive only been able to get the back cover off but that doesnt help me take the entire mirror off for a swap.

But we'll see!
