From rags to r.....better rags? the daily vento!

So my cabby is off the road at the moment and I couldn't continue to beg steal and borrow other peoples cars for longer then I did; Joe happened to link me to a Gumtree ad (as he often does.....haha), we had a laugh and decided to lowball the seller since as there was no loss either way and he accepted it! Makes me wonder and wish I had offered even less, haha......

    Cost goes something like this:

    Vento $200
    Tow car fuel $75
    Degreaser $0
    Roady $60
    6months Rego $350
    Minus change found $3.75

    Total: $681.25

Given the price, it wasn't in good condition, seemingly had sat there for not sure how long....

Things that were wrong with it:

    - "Front left wheel bearing needs doing" ..... the axle nut simply needed to be nipped up, the wheel wobbled a good 10mm :/
    - No tacho or speedo ..... Replaced with another laying around
    - Hole in the mid muffler ...... had an exhaust shop cut it out and bypass it with a new bit of pipe
    - Had a rusty "DTM" dual upswept exhaust tip ...... chopped off and replaced with a straight pipe
    - Front rotors were warped baddddd ..... replaced with some I had kicking around
    - Numerous bulbs/fuses mising/incorrect/blown ..... replaced
    - Front bumper hanging off due to a busted side guide ..... replaced
    - Steering wheel grip was loose and worn ..... replaced with another I had, soon some wood grain though
    - Couldn't get 5th gear due to warn shifter parts ...... Temp fix till I do it properly
    - Front upper strut mounts knocking like crazy ...... replaced with the cabby's old ones
    - ****ty diy window tint ...... Removed
    - various interior trim pieces either broken or missing ...... all replaced/fitted with "new" items
    - Much needed service incl. fuel filter and gearbox fluid
    - Dirty! ..... cleaned
    - Missing front dummy covers ...... on order
    - Spare space saver worn ..... replaced with another

Things still I need to do:

    (help with parts if possible.....)

    - replacement gear knob and boot
    - new handbrake leather
    - need the trim pieces on the inside to cover the taillight bulb cluster
    - New headliner
    - control arm bushes
    - rear electric window regs
    - They've siliconed the roof gutter pieces?! must have leaks somewhere, somehow

    Things I want to do:

    - Repaint it
    - joey the headlights
    - half tint the tails
    - new smoked side repeaters
    - wheels
    - lowered (current lowered springs have thrashed the standard shocks, it's so floaty...haha)

Either way, here's a little timeline of pics..... will get better ones soon....

    He strikes again....

    Picked up!

    and dopped off....

That interior...... The amount of little white dog(?) hairs, sand and "big" rubbish was insane......

    Registered and home!

"New" momo wheel! Love this thing!

    Things I love:

    - The head unit with aux in
    - The speakers sound decent
    - The door cards with some fluffy carpety stuff along the bottom, courtesy lights and "suede"
    - That grill of course
    - The lumbar and height adjustable drivers seat for that gangster lowrider/driveby/falling asleep midget look
    - The engine pulls harder than my (old) cabby's 2L
    - Delayed interior light

    Until next time.....

haha, yeh man.... odd isn't it?! must have had a front ender and was replaced with this somehow?! or it was simply replaced because the previous owner knew his ****, unlikely but possible....
