    Question Mk4 Seats in Mk3

    Hi Guys

Just a quick question I know I brought it up a while ago but cbf to look for the thread but how difficult is it to fit mk4 seats in a mk3?

I remember Loon telling me that you could change the mk3 frame to the mk4 and it would work.

    Anyone else have a idea?

I'll try and dig up the threads on the Vortex for ya. From what I remember, fronts are "simple" for a fitter/welder as it's a change in bracket, but rears are more difficult.

    Fronts: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3195980
    Rear: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=3826867

    There are pics/diagrams in both.

Thanks Raymond, as I understand from looking through the tex, the rollers the seats sit on that go throughthe rails/ guides need to be slimmed down, and then the rails need to be cut out and redone.

The rears will be a little bit more trouble I think.

Yes they sure are, if you ever sit in them they are really bolstered bottom and sides alot more than the VR's. The Cupra seats I have are slightly bigger than the VR ones believe it or not but the Mk4 ones are nicer and have the side bolsters where I think they make a difference something where the mk3 ones lack!

They need some welding to be done on the front rails and some cutting for the rear, I asked my mechanic about this about a year ago, he quoted $250 for the whole job to fit MKIV Recaro's which I almost got a pair of fronts for $380 at the time but didn't have the money.

There was a guy with a mk3 like mine with black Bora Sport heated electric seats which ended up costing him around $750 to fit with modifications, fitting and auto-electrical work.
Now that would have been one sweet mk3 !

the recaro mk4 seats from the 99models are much bigger bolsters, and dont have air bags, where the later one like would have cami in my car and pierres car are much smaller, depends what you like i know pierre loves hes seats and not recaros.
