    Question about adapters

    Heya guys,

so I'm looking at getting 5x100>5x120 adapters from Adaptec but am a bit stumped on which type of adapter to purchase.

Now I know the benefits of getting hub-centric adapters but seeing as though the wheels I'll be putting onto these adapters have a large CB (72.5) would it be benefitial to also order the hub+wheel centric adapter?

I don't want to purchase the two-piece adapters and I know I'll be ordering a 20mm thick adapter.

    thoughts?

I'd you get yourself the smallest hub you can get. 57.1mm in this case. You can just use a hub ring on the wheel side, then you can use all wheels with a 120pcd and don't need to worry about machining cb's.

That actually sounds like a smart idea Hayden! Wont be limiting myself to just 72.5CB wheels. Never thought of it that way.

    cheers

Wheel and hub centric for sure.
You only need single piece adapters for 5 to 5 stud conversions.
What Hayden said is a good idea, as long as 57.1-72.5 rings (and other sizes you may want to run) are readily available

I also have a question but its completely different,

i want to put a set of porsche lobster claws on my mk4 r32, but I'm afraid that the adapters will **** with my performance and whatnot, i don't know anything about adapters, but I'm thinking that on the fronts, if i take a hard corner wouldn't that put a lot of stress on the longer bolts?

    Question about adapters

They are fine. I've done some severely hard driving on ****ty roads at stupid speeds never had an issue. Adaptec/H&R though are tough as.

Use quality adapters correctly and its fine.
No difference to using the wrong bolts or not tightening correctly on normal wheels.

As long as the adapters are well made and are hub and wheel centric, your only problem is the increase in unsprung weight.

In 20mm there's enough thickness to be 57.1-57.1 hub and wheel centric that's deep enough for the longer rears, go for it.

yeah, im going with 20mm all round so I can get some crazy dish on the rears and have it somewhat flush at the front. Still have to measure up what size barrels and lips I want so yeah
