With 10" rears and massive tyres allround i feel i would be slowing the car down, if i put that much money into the engine then i would want it to be as fast as possible, stock size rolling OD of wheels and low resistence. ive had cars on the ground and they where fun (beetle with less then 50mm clearence to the sump, 3 splines on the back ;) ) but you couldnt push them. if you do show+go the car seems to become a compromise between both and never as good as it could be.
But then again with all the cops its lost the fun of having a fast car. they have new rules coming in now or very soon. 9 months goal for a burnout yeah thats going to make everone safe. what about the ppl that bash guys or glass them and get off on a good b bond ??? anyway enough of my rant now.

Interesting to think about that Brenton cheers for that, however Iam not going for Fastest VW or anything I'll leave that to Seb who is building a crazy vr6T drag car with full fibre glass front:) I am really hoping for a mixture something that is clean, nice and pasteful and also something that will pick up and go when I feel like giving the road hell :D

"I am really hoping for a mixture something that is clean, nice and pasteful"
havent tried pasteful before whats that look like ? ;)
i would prob run 16x7.5 with sticky 215s or abit bigger if your smoking them 2 easy. dont forget the money you spend on wheels could be going into a supercharger ;)

I know I have spoken to Seb about this very interesting but read my previous post on page 19 there is a link on the bottom of the page to the VF engineering site looking at the Stage 2 at the moment :)
Just took a look at the Diamond racing website, but for some reason all there wheels look really cheap, something like $100 can someone confirm this maybe it was just me to drunk or something been sick all week lol.
I may have to email them I think :)

yeah i always thought they where just cheap steel wheels , i think most of them are not hub centric etc, just wide steelies for cheap. you could prob get it done here for they same price prob less with the shipping. just find some 16" steelies and get them widened

I've trawled through a few threads on Vortex and the guys say the Diamond Racing wheels are cheap. Of course, factor in shipping and taxes and cheap becomes anything but.
I agree with Golf Houso though - look around a bit more until you find what you think are the PERFECT set of wheels. Sometimes they may be right under your nose. I visit UpGarage regularly as they bring in a lot of wheels from Japan, and the adapters I recently acquired means I can drool with the intention of buying haha. Widened Mk4 steelies would be sick too, though if you've talked to Matt recently, they're not as easy to find as you think!
Oh and remember, it's not a sin having more than one set of wheels ;)
-
Haha your not wrong there Raymond! I will send them an email today about there wheels they I am more worried about the long term with the Diamond racing ones! I remember Matt and Dave saying that they had a troubled time trying to find the mk4 steelies :( Ohwell I am not all that fussed.
I am really torn between the widened steelies and the Keskin KT1s I think that are pron right there.
My only problem with the importing of the wheels I got a price off TMTuning which are usually rip offs and they quoted me $1250 US delivered to here! Which equivalates to about $1400 AUD which is awesome, my only problem is that when they get over here will I have to pay extra?
I know to send them in 2 shipments to get the cost down but is that the only thing? or is there more?
Thanks for all your help everyone really apreciate :)

Anything coming in over $1000AUD including courier fees will be subject to GST and Import Duty. So yeah. Split em up to keep it down. May cost u a lil bit extra but could save u a fair bit

Cool thanks Tim, looks like Keskins FTW :)

TM Tuning arent the cheapest place about no. Their shipping rates are usually really good though. The main problem is that their budget shipping option takes anywhere from 2 weeks to 2 months. So u have to play the waiting game. Can get a bit frustrating but oh well.
