Anyone?
Might just give it a pass then.
I bought one of those bluetooth OBD readers online. Plugged it in, connected to my tablet. No problems. On the adapter status though it says no connection to ECU. How can I fix this?
Is it because I have an aftermarket stereo? I tried disconnecting it and trying to connect to the ECU, same deal.
Would really like to get this to work.

Just get a $15 cord and download the free software and use a laptop. maybe the connector doesnt work with the OBD1 cars?

Obd1 reads fine.
You need to have your accessories on for it to work. So if you didn't have the key in and accessories on that would explain it.
Hmmm. What software? I just use a free version of vcds and an eBay cable. Always worked for me.
ELM327 v1.5 with the Torque app (paid) running on Android. I've seen other places suggesting to test the voltage between pins 4 and 7 and see if it's under 9V. Mine's slightly above 9V but I don't think that should make much difference.
I did have a cable left over when I was wiring up the stereo so maybe that's it? The cable was originally hooked up the the stock stereo.

A bit of an update. I purchased a VAG-COM KKL 409 type cable and still issues. I can hear some relay making a clicking sound.
I realised though that my car was manufactured in 1995 which means I probably have OBD1, so no dice.
Not too fussed about it since the onboard computer shows enough on the instrument cluster to keep me satisfied.

I think it's just the software you're using. I have a cable and free version of vagcom which use to work fine for me on my 1994 vr6
