Hey All,

I've read up quite a bit on the power window issues that the Mk3's seem to have, but haven't really come across anything like mine.. So am a bit lost as to where to start pulling things apart - I'm new to the VWs..

Was sitting in traffic, and the drivers window decided it wanted to go down all by itself... Fair enough I think to myself, I'll just hit up on the switch, and that will be that.. Switch not working - and no clunking noise from the motor either.. Around 5 minutes later, try putting the window up, and it did infact go up.. 30 seconds later, it decides to go down half way, and starts going up and down within a few inches every couple of seconds, again my switch doing bugger all to try override it.. Minutes pass again, switch works again, window up.. Got to where I needed to be, as soon as the engine was turned off, power window goes all the way down again, switch does nothing (with the ignition back on), and tried the window close function on the keylock, which does nothing either. 30 minutes later, i use the switch, window goes up, and i just disconnect the motor in the door... Get home, pull it all apart again, window works fine, was making it go up and down for around 15 minutes, so left it connected.. Next morning, as soon as the key hit the ignition, window goes all the way down, and switch not working to override it..

Has anyone had anything like this happen? Not sure if these windows have a 'safety' feature that might be malfunctioning?
