painting trims
What's the deal when it comes to the rubber trims on the older vr6's. I've seen a whole lot of them with all one colour and am wondering if these trims can just be painted over to match the car or do they have to be replaced with something or whatever. Sorry, bit of a noob when it comes to painting.
Like for example this image (just picked the first in google)

do painters have special paint for rubber? or does it have to be replaced with metal? or something completely different?
thankyou!

It's plastic to begin with. The older models (pre-96) and newer model CL have textured plastic side mouldings and they're a bit harder to paint up. Proper way is to sand down the texture then paint them. But best way is to source some late model side mouldings, strip them back then paint them the colour you want.

Thanks ray!
One of my mouldings is "peeling" off and I'm still deciding whether I should replace with the late model side mouldings you mentioned or somehow fix the current one.
Any idea where I can find the late model side mouldings and how could I fix up my current mouldings.
thanks.

If you want to fix the current one, you'll just need new clips.
