Two things that can cause this are:
-Faulty voltage regulator. I assume these alternators are internal reg? Did you get a NEW alternator, or just another one??
-Crank pulley is too big or the alternator pulley is too small. Quite simply, this will spin the alternator too fast (overdrive it) and it will over charge your battery. Did you check to see if it has the correct diameter pulleys??
